The Dadaist spirit of Gruppo T

Posted in Miriorama

Below we reveal a secret of the Dadaist spirit that hovered in the group, triggered by the prohibitive cost of image processing back in those years. The caption of the photo shamelessly says  “Boriani, Colombo, Anceschi, Devecchi in Bellinzona”, yet the young guy reclined forward, who should be Anceschi is actually Carlo Berta (who had exhibited along with the others earlier in 1958 at the Lyceum of Southern Switzerland in Lugano, as one can see in the catalogue of the exhibition where the four of them were portrayed in the garden of the psychiatric department of the hospital in Bellinzona). Berta had been steadily substituted by the member who, for his phenomenological studies, would have been pointed at as the theorist of the group.
